the North Downs Way (a national trail) passes 1/4 mile in front of Pond Cottage making it ideal territory for walkers
the house is situated a 10 minute drive from the wonderful cathedral city of Canterbury and the pretty market town of Faversham. 15 minutes drive from the trendy coastal town of Whitstable and a little further to the arty and interesting Margate, Broadstairs and Dungeness home of the famous power station but more importantly Derek Jarman’s garden
the continent is accessible via Eurostar in Ashford and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone, both only a 20 minute drive away and enabling you to get to France and Belgium within 2 hours
Pond Cottage can offer a multitude of places to see and things to do
if you wish to do some sightseeing then you will be spoilt for choice
Canterbury has a wealth of opportunities and events, personal favourites being the cathedral, the architecture, the Canterbury Festival in October, the shops especially the Goods Shed - a permanent Farmers Market which also has a great restaurant
Faversham has Brogdale famous for it's fruit, an annual Hop Festival and a regular market and is just simply very charming
Whitstable is renowned as a treat for those wanting to dip into a trendy seaside town - there are numerous places to eat well, some lovely shops and very attractive wanderings to be had along the beach to the harbour and beyond to the Hotel Continental - July experiences the famous Oyster Festival

Walking
we are located in superb waking country. In your room you will find maps of local walks and books containing walks that can be taken from the house or further into Kent. Many come with personal recommendations
if you are planning a walking/cycling holiday in the area and are passing through we will be happy to arrange a transfer of your luggage to your next destination for a small charge
for those without transport, should you need collecting / taking to Faversham, Canterbury, Ashford stations a small charge will be made
